The format of People who don’t know vs people who know is based on a comparison meme in which the first image (left) is a reverse toonification of the character Mr Incredible from the movie Incredibles 2 while the second image (right) is a black and white effect on the earlier image.
Spread
After the emergence of Mr Incredible Becoming Uncanny, various variations of the meme started spreading on the Internet. On November 10, 2020, Reddit user u/PARILIZEDpArrOT243 posted the first-ever variation of the meme on subreddit r/memes with the title “Teachers should give us their copies smh” (received over 68k upvotes in a year) and 3 hours later on the subreddit r/MemeEconomy with the title “Invest in b o b” (received over 23k upvotes in a year).
On June 26, 2021, a Reddit user (account removed) posted another variation on the subreddit r/memes titled “those people” that received 47.7k upvotes in a day.
On September 6, 2021, a Redditor Dapper_Dildo posted the first known use of the macro. The post titled “Not my proudest moment. Lol” received 3k upvotes within 4 hours. The meme is a 1×2 pane format. The upper format depicted two girls looking at a cup (originally was a Sun) and the lower pane was divided into two parts as per the meme above.
