The Ek dum se waqt badal diye meme originates from the interview between a Pakistani cricket fan Momin Saqib and Dunya Media Group PK’s journalist Azhar Javaid on 16th June 2019. The defeat of 89 runs (D/L method) against India who maintained its unbeaten streak (7-0) over Pakistan in the 50 over World Cup did not go well with the fans. Among the disappointed fans, Momin Saqib who graduated in 2019 from King’s College London was interviewed by a journalist. In the interview, Momin Saqib shared some disappointing aspects of being a fan of the losing team considering the rivalry between India and Pakistan in cricket. One among them was when he says, “119 Tak. Ek dum se inhone waqt badal diya jazbaat badal diye zindagi badal di.” It means that the team changed the world upside down after a good looking partnership till 119 runs while chasing a target of 337 runs.
The interview became instant viral among cricket fans over the globe. Also, this is the second interview of Momin that has gone viral. He came into the limelight after his interview on Pakistan’s Champions Trophy final win over India dated 18th June 2017. The popular use of Ek dum se waqt badal diye meme is to mock someone/ something whose one’s entire outlook, circumstances, or lifestyle were affected or altered (by some event), usually negatively.
