The Blush Meter meme originated in the early 2010s on social networking platforms where a person would ask his followers to draw a scenario which the user will rate as per the Blush-O-Meter accordingly. Although it is not possible to trace the exact date, the first known usage was by a Twitter user @Faudwyn on June 28, 2012.
On May 28, 2013, a Tumblr user posted the first known Anime Blush meter of the character Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan show which received 23 notes. Later on November 26, 2018, Twitter user @AliceGrumpart posted a meter based on Jacqueline from the Pokemon series.
On January 10, 2019, another Twitter user posted a blush-o-meter based on the Sakura character from Cardcaptor Sakura, a manga series. The tweet received more than 35 retweets and 90 likes within seven days. The trend became a meme and fans (especially Anime and manga fandom) started using their favourite characters to create their own meters.
